Clinch-Powell 2018 Year in Review! (Part 1)

Go to What's New

Clinch-Powell staff recently completed their 2018 Fiscal Year End Annual report. And what a year it has been! We want to share this success with our clients, partners, and supporters, so throughout the month of December we will be highlighting some of our accomplishments that have had significant impact on our local communities. This week we are focusing on our housing programs.

The fiscal year, which ran from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018, Clinch-Powell provided $2,542,054.00 in affordable housing financing. This included packaging 18 mortgage loans and 17 home repair loans. We provided housing counseling services to 194 families, promoting and sustaining quality housing in the communities we serve, and encouraging stability among the families and individuals we work with. Counseling services included pre-purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, household budgeting and credit repair coaching, high cost mortgage counseling, and rental counseling. In addition to individual counseling, Clinch-Powell served 16 families through in-person group classes.

One of the many ways that Clinch-Powell makes homeownership affordable is through quality, affordable construction. This year Clinch-Powell built one new Energy Star rated home and renovated 12 homes for resale, providing affordable financing to homeowners and improving property values through the improvements made on existing housing.

Clinch-Powell entered the housing arena in 2002, receiving the federal designation of Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) and becoming a HUD approved housing counseling agency. Housing is currently still one of our biggest focuses as an organization, and through strong partnerships with other entities and organizations, we are able to provide a number of services in counseling, mortgage financing, construction, and home repair. These partnerships are key to providing many of our services. Some of our partners are USDA-Rural Development, Fahe, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, and many local banks and community organizations.

Clinch-Powell is grateful for the opportunity to serve Rural Tennessee for almost 30 years, and we are looking forward to many years to come!
