Clinch-Powell seeking photos, stories of historic Rutledge Presbyterian Church
An extensive renovation project undertaken by Clinch-Powell RC&D to restore the historic Rutledge Presbyterian Church has been completed, and the organization is asking those who have memories or photos of the church from past years to share them as part of its effort to preserve the history of the church.
Memories may be shared in written form, or through conversation with Clinch-Powell staff. Photos do not have to be of only the church, but must have been taken at the church. A caption explaining the event pictured should be included for each photo.
Those wishing to tell their story may make an appointment by calling 865-828-5927. Photos and written memories may be submitted via email to Tracey@clinchpowell.net. Anyone who has printed photos may bring them to the Bryan House, 7995 Rutledge, Pike, Rutledge, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. where they can be scanned.
Everyone is invited to Clinch-Powell’s inaugural community fellowship event at the church Saturday, April 25. A dedication ceremony will be held, followed by a bluegrass concert. More details about the event will be released soon.
Recent renovations included repairs to the church’s foundation, installation of a new roof, repainting the interior and exterior, refinishing the floors, repairing the steps, repairing the plumbing, making the bathroom more accessible, repairing some of the windows, creating a driveway with a level turnaround area and adding an accessibility ramp for improved access to the church.
