Always Something to learn: The 2025 Housing Education Symposium
July 24, 2025
Clinch-Powell housing counselors Elizabeth and Suzie traveled to Memphis to participate in the 2025 Housing Education Symposium hosted by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA). This annual event brings together housing professionals from across the state to learn, collaborate, and strengthen their ability to serve Tennessee communities.
During the symposium, Elizabeth and Suzie engaged in continuing education focused on post-purchase support, an important piece of the homeownership journey that ensures families can maintain stable housing long after closing day. They also attended expert-led seminars on HUD reporting, as well as sessions exploring how bankruptcy can intersect with foreclosure prevention efforts.
In addition to classroom learning, the symposium provided valuable opportunities to network with other housing agencies, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to housing education. One highlight of the trip was a guided tour of affordable housing initiatives in the Memphis area, offering a first-hand look at how communities are tackling housing needs creatively and collaboratively.
“Even after 18 years in this department, there’s always something new to learn—especially fresh, out-of-the-box ways to improve how we serve,” said Suzie.
Clinch-Powell remains committed to professional growth and to ensuring every client has access to knowledgeable, compassionate support at every stage of the homeownership process.
