Clinch-Powell RC&D, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, hosted an awards reception for recipients of Cumberland Forest Community Fund grants for nature-based projects Thursday, August 17 at The Exchange in Downtown Rutledge.

RUTLEDGE – Clinch-Powell RC&D, in partnership with the Nature Conservancy, hosted an awards reception for recipients of Cumberland Forest Community Fund (CFCF) grants for nature-based projects Thursday, August 17 at The Exchange in Downtown Rutledge.

A total of $85,000 in grant funding was awarded between five organizations. Public, private and nonprofit entities in Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, and Union Counties were eligible to apply. Awardees included the Claiborne County Boys and Girls Club STEM Club, Clairfield School Outdoor Recreation & Education, Hickory Corner Farms Greenhouse, Between the Parks Recreation & Blueways Development, and Hunters for the Hungry Food Transport.

Attendees enjoyed dinner catered by Swiney’s BBQ and desserts by Cup to Saucer Coffee & more. Speakers included Grainger County Mayor Mike Byrd, Clinch-Powell Executive Director Trenna McCauslin, The Nature Conservancy Cumberland Forest Project Director Greg Meade, Clinch-Powell Executive Operations Assistant Stephani McCarty, and Well Being Retreat Center owner Don Oakley.

Award checks were presented by Clinch-Powell Board Member William Ison and The Nature Conservancy Clinch Valley Program Community Outreach Manager Nick Proctor.
