Clinch-Powell announces awards for outdoor projects

Clinch-Powell RC&D has announced $85,000 in grant funding for projects in Claiborne and Campbell County, Tennessee.

Funds are awarded in partnership with The Nature Conservancy’s Cumberland Forest Community Fund program, which supports People, Nature, and Economy. Projects from public, private, and nonprofit organizations were selected for funding, and work will begin in September of this year.

Awardees include:

Boys and Girls Club STEM Club – Claiborne County

$6,900 will support technology and materials for a STEM Club and other experiential learning opportunities in nature for children and youth in Claiborne County.

Clairfield School Outdoor Recreation & Education – Clairfield

$25,000 will support renovations and ADA accessibility improvements to outdoor recreation equipment and learning spaces for students and community at Clairfield School.

Hickory Corner Farms Greenhouse – Speedwell

$23,550 will support the addition of a large scale greenhouse for expanded farm production, community education, farm to table partnerships, and supplying fresh produce to area food banks.

Between the Parks Recreation & Blueways Development – Campbell County

$11,000 will support blueway access, recreation and education on Norris Lake in partnership with Norris Lake Project, Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council, and Norris Dam State Park.

Hunters for the Hungry Food Transport – Campbell County

$18,550 will support a mobile freezer trailer for Open Arms Ministries and Campbell Outdoor Recreation Association to collect and distribute donated wild caught venison through the Hunters for the Hungry Program.
