Past Funded Projects

All Seasons Water Station (2021)

An all season water station was installed at Big Ridge State Park in Maynardville, TN. The station provides a clean, freeze-proof water source for campers, hikers, and recreational lake users on Norris Reservoir.

Hatfield Knob Elk Viewing Tower (2021)

In partnership with Campbell County Chamber and CORA, funding supplemented material costs for the construction of an Elk Viewing Tower at Hatfield Knob in Campbell County for the public to visit and observe elk in their native environment. The project was supported by TWRA and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

River Access and Community Walking Path (2021)

Riverside Rentals used funds to improve river access for customers, address streambank stabilization, and create a greenway for community use on their property along the Powell River.

Outdoor Community Space (2021)

Funds supported an accessible outdoor wellness space at Servolution in Claiborne County, which is a resource for the non-profit and community. Patients awaiting care can access the space, and local schools and community groups can utilize the area as an outdoor classroom.

Pollinator Habitat (2021)

The Well Being Foundation planted one acre of pollinator species on lands along the Powell River in Claiborne County. They operate a wellness and nature-focused retreat center with options for overnight, workshop and day use, and the pollinator field will be accessible by guests and used for programming.

Clearfork Community Pavilion (2024)

Clearfork Community Institute constructed a community pavilion that will be used for gatherings promoting local culture and environmental education. The pavilion incorporates native landscaping and rainwater collection, and phase two will include the installation of educational panels created by local artists.

Cumberland Gap Adventure Company (2024)

The Cumberland Gap Adventure Company is a new outfitter in Claiborne County, with a focus on environmental stewardship, responsible recreation, and expanding access to nature for everyone. Funds supported the launch of the business in 2024, including rental hauling equipment and dry bags for litter removal and use on excursions, as well as community education and outreach.

Litter Control Support (2024)

Funding supported litter mitigation in Campbell County, including signage for common dump sites and equipment to support litter removal from the lake. The funds also supported community events to clean up debris and dump sites along Norris Lake and surrounding areas.

Grainger Historic Trail (2024)

A historic walking trail is underway in Grainger County, with funds from this project supporting informational signage and kiosks in downtown Rutledge. The project connects recreation, nature, history and community.

Trails for the Community (2024)

In partnership with Woodland Community Land Trust, Terra-Strata LLC began construction of a public non-motorized trail system in Claiborne County. Volunteers and students participated in trail build days, and 1.1 miles of trail was constructed, with the next phase including an additional mile of trail.

TriState Outdoors Fest (2024)

Funding supported the Tri-State Outdoor Fest, a festival that began in 2022 in Cumberland Gap, TN. Support provided long-term use supplies for community environmental education and workshops, an extended sponsorship, and sustainable waste solutions for the festival.
