Our Strategic Housing Initiatives for Family Financial Transformation or SHIFT to Ownership program is designed to help people who rent a home transition into attainable and sustainable homeownership. The goal is to have you in a home of your own within 12-36 months.

We are opening new pathways to homeownership by shifting access, action and investment to meet families where they are and take them where they want to go.

You accomplish this with the help of financial coaches, staying on budget, repairing credit issues, and committing to the process. The program combines stable housing, intensive financial coaching and unique financing opportunities to move you from renter to successful homeowner.

Our Services
Clinch-Powell has been leading the area with housing solutions since 2001. As a Community Housing Development Organization, a developer, a licensed Mortgage Broker, and a HUD approved Housing Counseling Agency, we offer solutions to meet all of your housing needs.
Housing Counseling
Our housing counselors hold HUD and NCHEC certifications ensuring the highest standards in Homeownership Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention Counseling, Pre-Purchase Education, and Post-Purchase Education. With more than 30 years of collective experience, our counselors are the best in the business and have helped thousands of Tennessee families with housing dreams. Best of all, there is never a charge for our counseling services.
Financial Coaching
Life happens and there is no shame in accepting help. If you are ready to make a shift in your life, our coaches will walk with you to reach the goals that you set for your family. Do you need help with budgeting, credit repair, debt management or income support? We don’t offer a hand out but we do offer a hand up with our SHIFFT program. Let us help you in your journey to becoming a homeowner!
Loan Services
As a non-profit lender, Clinch-Powell has access to a number of non-traditional loan products that provide opportunities to a greater number of people including home loans and downpayment assistance. We can help you access fair consumer loan products through our nonprofit lending partner Turnaround Community Lending (TaCL) and escape the predatory lending trap.
