Appalachia CARES
Appalachia CARES is an AmeriCorps program of the Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation and Development Council with a 30-year legacy of service in Tennessee communities. Appalachia CARES members are placed in direct service positions to gain meaningful on-the-job experience while providing valuable services and programming in their communities. With the ultimate goal of supporting Clinch-Powell’s mission of building strong communities and expanding access to affordable housing, primary member activities include housing education, assessment, home repairs, and resource support.
The Appalachia CARES program is a grant funded AmeriCorps program. The grant is awarded by Volunteer Tennessee located in Nashville, TN. AmeriCorps enrolls more than 250,000 individuals in intensive service each year to serve organizations making a difference in 40,000 communities across the country.
